St. Augustine's Press

Based on The Pope John Paul II Cultural Center’s Inaugural exhibition, The Mother of God: Art Celebrates Mary, this book includes thirty-eight works of art that span the breadth of Christian history and reflect the diversity of the world’s cultures. It is dedicated to Mary, the Mother of God. Since the inception of Christianity, artists have devoted their works to the Blessed Virgin. This exhibit is a tribute to their collective insight. It is also a tribute to Pope John Paul II, for Mary has always held a special place in his heart, as the “M” in his papal coat of arms attests. This book is divided in to six sections, Eve and Mary, The Incarnation, The Theotokos (The Mother of God), Images of Prayer, Mary in Cultures around the World, and Walking with Mary in the Third Millennium. Artists include: Salvi, Pinturicchio, and Scarsellino.
